Funnel-web Spiders

BE WARNED: funnel-web spiders are on the march across the Central Coast.

The Australian Reptile Park issued the warning this week.

The park's Mary Raynor said there had been a boom in the local funnel-web population.

Recent heavy rains and high humidity have resulted in a significant increase in the numbers of the highly venomous spiders.

"The influx is due to unseasonable dampness which means the male is out and about looking for a mate," Ms Raynor said.

"So be aware and alert. Don't leave clothing, towels or footwear on the ground for spiders to hide in, check shoes before putting them on, and encourage children not to go barefoot in the backyard."

The increase in funnel-webs is good news, however, for the park's anti-venom program.

The spiders can be carefully caught using a smooth-sided glass container and dropped off at the park at Somersby.

Wannabies in the Finals again?

The Wannabies are now forth in the division and are heading for a place in the final again this season.

Thanks to a more stable team, the Wannabies are getting back into the summer competition with renewed confidence.

Relative newcomer 'Paul' has been very solid in defence complementing Chris's fantastic performance in goal. Chris, Geoff and myself make up the present team with help from Murray and a few others.

The last two matches have been won with a bonus point (a bonus point is awarded for ewvery 5 goals scored)

Our little girl

Evie starts pre-school

Our little girl is growing up!

Evie has started going to pre-school twice a week. We can't get much out of her but after talking to the teachers she seems to be enjoying it.

She didn't get upset the first day we left her which was a releaf and a bit sad for us but the main thing is she wants to keep going.

Next step – University!!

Mom and Dad's visit

Talk about spoilt kids...

Mom and Dad's Christmas visit saw the children get more spoilt than ever. Although it wasn't all their fault I'd say that 75% of it was. But hey, that's their job I surpose.

We did the normal Christmassy things. Didn't spend as much time on the beach this year. The weather went from too hot to too wet.

Poppy and Bailey in the garden

Spent plenty of time in the spa though and after Christmas Day Evie spent a lot of time on the new trampoline and on her new bike. Bailey wanted to play with everything that Evie was playing with which caused a few problems but we managed to get through it all relatively unscathed.

With Mom and Dad babysitting Michelle and I managed to go out for a few meals and a Movie. I even managed to get a kayak trip in.

If anyone wants to see the movies and photos, talk to Mom and Dad they'd love to show you. But be prepared for a big session.

Lulu

The dog's still around...for now!

Labradoodle gets repreive

We've had Lulu for a while now. She started small but then grew bigger than we expected. There was talk that we would have to get rid of her as children were being knocked down all over the place.

She's still around though and, after some training, is a lot better. She still gets a bit too excited when people come to the door but generally is very good with the kids now.
